As someone who attended many Games Studies PhD defenses and has heard the Bartle taxonomy more times than I care to count, I recently saw this article by the Angry DM which covers "8 kinds of fun" that I find more nuanced than Bartle's "4 motivations for gamers".

Oh my gosh I found the printouts for the old monster-battling game I wrote for the TI-83+.

It had a doofy code-generating system you could use to import you monster into other people's games to fight each other.

Lately I've been diving deep into Pathfinder 2nd Edition. I had meant to play it last year but things got out of control even without considering Covid. I'm thinking about getting into organized play since that doesn't require a stable group or regular schedule commitment.
